Sound Business, Inc. (SBI)

Sound Business, Inc. (SBI) is a not-for-profit education services organization serving A. Philip Randolph Campus High School, in West Harlem, since 1991.  At Randolph High, SBI provides comprehensive co-curricular and extra-curricular programs aimed at preparing the school's college bound student-body academically, attitudinally, and socio-culturally for post-secondary educational and career path opportunities.  SBI also develops and implements initiatives designed to enhance A. Philip Randolph's ability to function as a vibrant community and its ability to access corporate and private NYC based resources.

SBI began in 1988 as "RPM Institute", a program developed by Charles Thompson for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.  In 1990, SBI moved from the Cathedral to the fiscal umbrella of the Citizens Committee for New York City.  In 1992, SBI began operations as an independent 501c-3 corporation.

The Sound Business, Inc. office, in Randolph High, has become an integral part of the school.  It has a rich and unique relationship with the students, faculty and staff, Parents' Association, alumni, alumni parents, former faculty, school administrators as well as regional and central Department of Education administrators.  Among the school's principle stake holders, SBI is recognized as the community voice within the High School and is looked upon as an important model for the new public role in New York's public schools.
